Carols in the Domain

Ieri sera siamo stati al  " Carols in the Domain" , 

un grande concerto pubblico per natale nel parco "The Domain", che si trova proprio sotto i Royal Botanic Gardens, ed è andato in onda in diretta sul canale 7.

Ovviamente hanno cantato tutte le canzoni natalizie tipiche, ovviamente io non ne sapevo nemmeno una, mentre per Francesca non c'è stato problema (visto che ha festeggiato buona parte dei suoi natali a Londra).

Comunque è stato molto interessante sicuramente un tuffo nell'atmosfera natalizia, che qui a casua dell'estate in arrivo si sente un po' meno...

Ho anche fatto un piccolo video durante l'eveto, la qualità non è il massimo ma di più non si può pretendere dal mio povero cellulare.

Ne approfitto nche per augurare a tutti un buon Natale e Felice anno nuovo....

Apartment

Da circa 1 settimana io e Francy ci siamo trasferiti in un appartamento in Pitt St (per chi non conosce Sydney posso dire che siamo nella city, poco lontano dai grandi centri commerciali). Siamo in un palazzo relativamente alto (38 piani) dotato di quei bellissimi confort che solo questi palazzi enormi offrono (piscina, palestra, sauna, portiere ecc.).
L'appartmento è formato da 3 camere da letto, quindi lo condividamo con altre persone: un ragazzo indiano e 2 ragazze tedesce (una miscela di culture...), ma soprattutto abbiamo wi-fi internet in app. compreso nell'affitto (parlerò poi dei costi di internet qui: alti).
Siamo ancora alla ricerca di un lavoro, speriamo di trovare qualcosa...
Nel frattempo siamo andati al cinema ( Greater Union di George St. è a 2 isolati dal ns app.) a vedere Australia la grande produzione australiana (Especially along the production, given that lasts 2 hours and 45 min.). I

FLIGHT

Lunedì scorso siamo partiti da Malpensa, come saprete il nostro volo da Milano a Sydney con Etihad è stato composto da 2 tratte:
Milano --> Abu Dhabi e Abu Dhabi --> Sydney.
La compagnia è composta da: me, Francesca, Vittorio (noi ci fermeremo oltre 4 mesi), Riccardo e Andrea (che si fermano solo per le ferie per un mese circa)
Ovviamente la prima non è niente di esagerato, 6 ore di volo, che passano relativamente in fretta (sull'aereo c'erano circa 70 film da vedere, poi telefim musica e videogiochi, questi ultimi almeno di una 15 di anni...).
La seconda è molto più lunga: 14 ore di volo, dormire sull'aereo non è mai comodo e poi non so come mai ma sembrava un'asilo, c'erano bambini (di 2-3 anni, e anche un paio di qualche mese) ovunque, non so come mai, quale arcano motivo spinge questa gente a far sorbire ai propri figli un volo di 14 ore...
Ovviamente il cibo sull'aereo non era niente di esagerato, ma che pretendete...

Domani alle ore 5:00 partiremo da Malcesine e ci dirigeremo verso Malpensa, il volo decolla alle 11:25, ed il check-in chiude alle 10:25, noi dovremmo essere in aereoporto, se tutto va bene, per le 8 (sperando che non ci sia troppo traffico a causa dello sciopero).

Ricordo a tutti che i prezzi sono basati sulle MIE conoscenze tramite la banca in cui ho il conto (Unicredit) e la carta di credito che possiedo (MasterCard)
Da subito mi sono venute in mente varie opzioni (tenedo conto che la prima cosa da fare una volta arrivati è aprire un conto in banca):

1. Bonifico - Inviare un bonifico dal ns conto italiano a quello australiano -> Cost: € 10 commission in Italy the Australian unknown) you may decide to send the bank in € uros or in AU Dollars, to be decided based on costs identified in Australia (all done via Internet Banking)

I preparativi per il viaggio stanno finendo, ieri mattino ho fatto richiesta per il visto WH (basta andare sul sito dell' Immigrazione e da li scegliere il visto Working Holiday), e soprattutto ho pagato il mio obolo allo stato australiano di 195AU$, in qualche ora alla mia mail e arrivato il visto, quindi da ieri entro 12 mesi posso entrare in Australia e posso rimanerci dalla prima entrata per 12 mesi :):):)
Ora viene la parte più difficile... comprare il biglietto aereo (che fra andata e ritorno ci costa 1377€) e recuperare un posto ove riposare le nostre stanche membra dopo a journey of more than 20 hours.

Dopo aver aspettato quasi un mese è finalmente arrivata a casa mia la Sydney Design Guide (vedi foto).
E' una guida che come dice il titolo stesso porta alla scoperta di tutto ciò che è design a Sydney, sia esso architettura che arredamento.
La guida contiene un po di tutto, dai percorsi all'interno della città ai migliori posti dove mangiare e rilassarli...
ovviamente è in inglese, ma questo non è un problema, anche se un dizionario diventerà utile con le parole più ostiche...

Forse ho trovato l'Hotel che fa per noi ad Abu Dhabi (cioè il più economico) costa 550 AED a notte (poco meno di 100€) for a double room, excluding tax and service (16% overall). The price does not seem bad, at least half the nights I would do there. Just to break the long flight.

Dopo aver chiesto infomazioni riguardo all'appartamento tanto sognato (vedi post precedente) ho scoperto che lo affittano senza mobili... quindi non va bene... la ricerca continua, spero di trovare qualcosa che non ci costi più di 200AU$ alla settimana a testa, se no come ci viviamo...

Parliamo un po' dei costi del viaggio, sia mai qualcun'altro voglia seguire il mio esempio.
Partiamo con il presupposto che dovete parlare già un inglese più o meno decente, in modo da poter scrivere lettere per richieste di informazi ai vari hotel, agenzie real estate, agenzie di insurance, etc., if you could not trust yourself to some travel agencies that rely on on-site services.
