We want to be paid for research and teaching that we provide. Not only because it's just not working for free or for compensation laughable, but if we are students and all citizens may claim the right quality of service we provide. Only when treated with the dignity that is owed to each worker can escape from the bargaining and agreements as to subtle and unmentionable that lie behind the work free of charge.
